Last weekend I did a walk in derbyshire, starting from Carsington next to the reservoir. From here we headed off towards Brassington then over to Harboro Rocks across the Pennine Bike Trail then over and down to the nothingness that is a number of disused mines and onto Middleton around the most pleasant Middleton Moorland. Which is very similar terrain to that of the Yorkshire Moors or even the South Downs.
The walks takes in a number of very weird disused mines and the like and you get the feeling that around the areas there is considerable neglect to the environment in terms of vast chemical leakage. To be seen are many wilting and stunted trees and eerie wastelands. Anyway from Middleton we headed back towards Carsington via the direct footpath which again crosses the Pennine bike trail further East.
From here is a very pleasant walk back to the Reservoir where myself and my ragged associates partook in some fine pints of watery Scrumpy causing myself to develop a large rash a number of days later.
Oh well, such is life, many a wisened tale was exchanged and after smacking my head against a tree and eating a dead badger to sober up (a local traditional) I drove at 600 miles of the Sterling hour back to old fruity down the M1 motorway, the transcendient backbone of old father England. chief.
