Yo, On sunday I did a walk in the White Peak area of the Peak District. The route started from Thorpe and mades its way up Thorpe Cloud, along Dovedale next to the river, turning right at Lover's Leap and off the main tourist route on a footpath past Moor Barn. Just before the footpath reachs the road we joined a footpath bearing north towards Bosten Grange farm and further on to Hanson Grange (about here there was a complete white out with snow!).
We headed on the footpath towards Milldale down into the village. At the village we headed up the road a bit and accross the top of the otherside of the ridge line back towards thorpe bearing south. About half way along the top we dropped down and skirted the other side of the river (watching all the tourists walk their nice easy surfaced path whilst we gingerly made our way along the partially flooded path).
We continued on until the footpath that goes straight up the side of the ride to Ilam. From here we basked in the beauty of the snow covered peaks and traversed our way along towards the Twelve Apostles with stunning views and then down (a very steep) path back into Thorpe. It was absolutely stunning a perfectly distanced walk.
I completely enjoyed it, it was most breathtaking, and felt fantastic to be up in the hills! and it is only 70 odd miles away from flat Leicestershire. We stayed in a guest house in Fenny Bentley.
