Youtube video: Is cycle touring becoming boring?

In response to a Youtube video: 'Is cycle touring becoming boring'?

It's as interesting as you allow yourself to make it. It's the same as any travel, but you're on a bike. If I'm not mistaken, you cannot say that travel in general is becoming boring....

If you're a boring person and you don't go out of your comfort zone or try to be open minded then it's possible to cycle wherever remaining as a boring person. But if you want to learn, change, open your mind, survive, then there's no possibility it's going to get boring.

Cycle touring if done properly (and that's up to your imagination) will never get boring. But if you cycle around staying in hotels and guest houses and visiting just tourist sights, ignoring all the locals and acting like an average tourist then it will be boring.

Are you an adventurer/explorer/expeditioner or are you a tourist?  or are you a mixture (like me).
Big cycle trips of great distance will always be newsworthy because they are great feats of endurance mentally and physically.

It's the stories that happen whilst you're travelling that really make the impact and that's the same as any travel.

The reason to communicate the travel is to inspire others because if you're traveling round the world on a bike you're not destroying the environment, or within the constraints of society and you WILL see the world in all it's reality ugliness and beauty.

Cycle touring is a good thing to do, it's a worthwhile use of your life. There's a possibility that if you do it, you might become a better person. How interesting you make it is up to you.

Cycling is my way of life. It changed my life for the better and allowed me to break out of the constraints of the life I was dealt had I taken a regular path. I use cycling to get around the city, to work and for recreation, mountain biking in the hills.

Make a travel, get out there in the world, see how people on the other side of the planet are living, it blows your mind and then if you can show others that by getting close to people, hearing their stories and communicating them- make friends, show some love to people- be a human.

Cycle touring isn't a package tour (obviously unless you are on a package tour, I'm talking about trips of a greater distance or challenge, self-planned and funded), it should be an adventure, and if it's done properly it should be bloody amazing and in no way boring.

Part of the challenge is to make an interesting trip but this is determined a great deal by your way of thinking and solving problems and where that takes you.

Prepare to learn and prepare to perhaps discover that if you think it's boring perhaps it's you who is the boring one?

In terms of people following the cycle tour through whichever communication mediums- the internet, video, photos, then usually they are following it because it is also their dream to make a big journey, they are an armchair traveller or they are interested in the stories or they find the lifestyle inspiring. It's a call to arms to take action to make life more interesting and to stimulate our thoughts and activities.
